He was often refered to as the slave of slaves. He was their apostle, father, physician, and friend. When news would arrive of a slave ship coming into port, Peter would go on board to comfort the people even those inflicked with disease. He fed and clothed them , and nursed them back to health. He organized many charitable organizations among the Spanish just as St. Vincent de Paul did in Paris.

Activity: Making hearts and smiles to share with those we love. We also have our annual day of sharing. Outreach and Kinderchurch join together to ask the children of our community to give to those that are less fortunate. Ideally your child will select one item from their toy box to be given away. If your child is not ready or willing to give, simply introduce the concept.
Special Thanks to Laura Calderwood for her involvement from Outreach to make this event possible.

Saint: St Rose of Lima. Rose is an American saint. She was born in Lima, Peru less than one hundred years after Columbus discovered America. Her birth name was Isabel, but because she was so beautiful people called her Rose.
As she became older she was scared of her beauty. She thought her own beauty would lead her into doing evil. She cut off all her hair, and worked hard every day until her hands became rough. She also wore clothing that was unbecoming. Nothing could make her ugly. Her beauty was deeper than her radiant skin, and her beauty shone through more and more each day.
All around her people were leading lives that were full and anger. She thought she would show Jesus how muc h she loved her fellow people by praying for them. She lived in a hut with dirt floors, and she slept on that floor. Everyday she got up and prayed. She prayed for her people, and for all their sins.
Rose became a Dominican nun, and was known for her power of prayer. The people loved her, and to this day the people of Peru claim that it was she that drove away an enemy fleet that was attacking Peru.
