Jonah and the Whale
What is going on in this painting? Ocean storm. Do you see any people? A man at the top. Who do you think he is? God What is he holding? A globe Do you think God is happy? No, Is it because of the wavy ocean? The person in the front corner is Jonah. God asks Jonah to go to Nineveh to talk to the people about what they have been doing wrong. Jonah ran from God, got into a boat and went out to sea. God stirred up the ocean, and all the men aboard the ship were frightened. They ran to find Jonah in the corner of the boat where he was sleeping. The man woke Jonah, and asks him what to do, and Jonah replied to throw him over board so this would appease God. God called upon a great fish (whale) to take Jonah in his belly. Jonah was in the belly of a big fish, and there he stayed for 3 days and 3 nights. Jonah prayed to God, and God told the fish to let Jonah go, and the fish spit Jonah out on dry land. Jonah went to Nineveh and preached to the people about what they were doing wrong, and the people saw how they were wrong and they changed. Our craft is going to show that no matter where you are in the world God is with you.
Craft: Whale from a CD Rom We add on a mouth, fin on the top, and bottom and back that the kids color and cut out then glue to the CD ROM. One could always use a mgnet on the back of the CD to hang on the fridge.
Sign language story: The fox
A fox found his way into a theater storeroom. This is the area where all the masks of the actors are kept. The fox glances into a mirror, and saw his own face. Wanting t find a change he tried on a mask of a cat, mouse, dog, elephant, and a giraffe. The fox soon came to the conclusion that the best ways to be a fox is to look like him.
Drama:
We add the characters (Fox,cat,mouse,elephant, and giraffe) to a hat. The children draw out a character and act as the character with no words. The other children then guess what character the children are acting as.

Moral: It is always best to be ourselves in any situation. Go loves us even when we make mistakes. God loves us unconditionally.
